The next Alton Bus Rally & Running Day will be held on

Sunday 15th July 2012

 

Venue

  • Anstey Park, Anstey Lane, Alton, Hampshire, GU34 2NB

  • 10am - 5pm

  • Entry to the rally site is FREE

The Event

  • One of Britain's biggest Bus Rallies & Running Days.

  • In 2012 celebrating the Aldershot & District Traction Company centenary, Alder Valley 40th anniversary and 40 years of the Leyland National.

  • A large display of Buses and Coaches of all shapes and sizes from a variety of eras and operating areas. In 2011 over 130 Buses and Coaches attended and 38 of these ran on the network of free bus services which consisted of 12 routes.

  • A network of FREE Bus Services operating from Anstey Park to Alton and Medstead & Four Marks Railway Stations, Alton Town Centre and surrounding villages and towns. These services are based on the routes operated by Aldershot & District, Alder Valley, Hants & Dorset, Southdown, Wilts & Dorset and other local independent operators in the 1950's, 60's, 70's and 80's.

  • A large display of other vehicles including Classic Cars, Lorries, Motorcycles and Vans as well as Emergency Services vehicles. In 2011 more than 100 other vehicles attended.

  • A large number of sales stands selling a wide variety of transport related items at Anstey Park.

  • A variety of catering outlets selling hot and cold food and drinks plus toilets on site at Anstey Park.

  • Programmes containing timetables for the FREE bus services and details of the vehicles entered will be available to purchase on the day of the event from Anstey Park and Alton Station.

Travelling to the event

  • Frequent FREE bus services between Alton Station and Anstey Park, connecting with trains from London Waterloo.

  • FREE feeder bus services to Alton from Basingstoke, Winchester, Guildford, Aldershot and Farnham.*

  • FREE parking at Anstey Park for hundreds of cars.

  • Entry to rally site is via Anstey Lane only as a one-way system will operate within Anstey Park.

  • Why not travel to the event by bus or train and enjoy a car free day out?

*Feeder services subject to confirmation, timetables will be finalised in June 2012 and published on the website.

The Mid Hants Railway

  • Steam and heritage diesel trains run for 10 miles through the beautiful Hampshire countryside between the market towns of Alton and Alresford.

  • Why not take the opportunity to visit the railway and see the locomotive shed at Ropley. Gift shops and the Buffet at Alresford will be open.

  • Train travel tickets can be purchased at their stations and at Anstey Park.
